Are Erik Brandvik (M.A. Student)

Brandvik is currently a student enrolled in the Masters Programme at the Department of Social Anthropology, and joined the BPS research group in August 2013. He finished his BA in May 2013 at the University of Bergen.

Medical Anthropology and The Anthropology of Biodiversity figure among Brandvik’s anthropological interests. As such he is planning an MA of the “back to nature” variety focused on man in the environment, subsistence and medical practice, climate-change, as well as related taxonomic, epistemological and paradigmatic challenges. Brandvik’s BA was titled Selves and Social Worlds.

Brandvik is currently in the process of writing his thesis, based on fieldwork conducted in the Republic of the Marshall Islands during the spring of 2014.
